Scottish and Irish music share the same common Celtic roots but they each have their own unique music. This album highlights the differences and at the same time, demonstrates the bond between the two musical cultures.

We have also tried to show some interesting contrasts in the repertoire; for example, between the old standards in 'The Pride of Erin' selection and the contemporary, and very beautiful, Scottish waltz, 'Miss Rowan Davis' by Phil Cunningham.

As a Ceilidh Band whose prime interest is playing dance music, we are of course delighted by the current upsurge of interest in traditional dance music and dancing by the young people of Scotland - a vital part in the re-awakening of both our cultural and national identities.

We thought it therefore, very appropriate to bring out this album to celebrate the strong musical links between the people of Ireland and Scotland and hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.
